HBS were appointed as part of the PFI team to assist with the ITN submission and, following the successful bid, to undertake the detail design of the building services for this existing secondary school increasing the pupil population to 2,700.

The works included the phased refurbishment of the Design Technology, Business Studies, Sports Hall, Gymnasium and Music blocks and the construction of a new 3 storey courtyard building which provided new classrooms for maths, English, humanities, drama and special needs, science laboratories, offices, dining, catering and other welfare facilities.

The new building was modelled using our CFD modelling program to assist with the natural ventilation and natural daylight strategies to determine the appropriate building orientation, glazing arrangements and maximum classroom depths to meet with the requirements of the DFES Building Bulletins.
